Young me was rather fortunate: despite my grandmother being so reluctant to allow emergent technology in our house, that she insisted my mom take a microwave cooking course before we could even nuke a bag of popcorn (true story), she at least regarded recycling as a positive endeavor.
I eventually crossed paths with peers who had experienced next-level affections for Mother Earth, and I became rather excited about the "next big thing" that would spell a bright future for the planet and my fellow carbon-based organisms. Sadly, my skillset regarding the hard sciences is about as impressive as watching drywall set up, so I've had to live vicariously through the brilliance of others.
So, imagine how excited my vicariousness has been, when I read about people making building blocks from plastic. Yeah, big time, excited vicariousness. 'Not even sure if that's a real sentence, but we're going to go with it. Anyway, the clever folks at ByFusion Global Inc. (yeah, sounds like the villains on an episode of The X-Files, but they seem cool) have come up with a process for turning Arrowhead bottles, Aunt Juniper's cracked Tupperware and all those fishing nets scraping the ocean floor, into solid blocks. And with a little planning, you can arrange to have some delivered. So you too can build a backyard fort for the kids (or yourself-who doesn't like a little "me" time), brace that slumping wood fence, or just decorate your front yard so the neighbors think you're some wildly eccentric hipster. Regardless, more plastic out of landfills, and more colorful objects around town. Win-win!
