Earth Gets a New Set of Glasses


Recall that exquisite reaction, when you found a few bucks hidden in an old jacket, or a memento from childhood you thought you accidentally tossed out during your last move? Now, multiply that feeling by a thousand. Because as I write this, the James Webb telescope is slowly, carefully preparing to be the next big news in space for years to come. After three decades and 10 billion dollars, this stunningly complex feat of engineering will peer into places we've charted and places we've never seen: gazing deep into the past and undoubtedly giving fresh insights on what we think we already know. This project may uncover answers to questions humankind has been asking for ages. I for one cannot wait to see where Elvis and Tupac have been living.
